A New Direction

Until today, I’ve always maintained a low profile online. In part because I’m a private person. In part because I never remember to take pictures. But mainly because I’ve tried to live by the old adage that said: “Don’t write down anything you wouldn’t want to see on the front page of the New York Times.” Or something along those lines. You get the drift. No flaming Facebook posts or regrettable Instagram reels for me.

Still, as the title says, I’m moving in a new direction. Which means launching this website and blog along with my new career. Not as a “recovering lawyer,” a popular term I’ve never really understood, but rather, as a former lawyer who’s finally ready to explore more creative pursuits. One of which will be developing more of an online presence.

These days, I can usually be found in my office working on my second novel, a story set in Newark, New Jersey about 100 years ago, when the city was an industrial powerhouse. So, in addition to following all the usual “rules” regarding plot and pacing and character development, I’ve also got to be historically accurate. It’s fun work, but pretty restrictive. Hopefully, the blog will offer a nice counterpoint to all of that—writing in public, on any topic that comes to mind.

Well, maybe not just “any” topic. Old adages persist for a reason, you know.
